Thanks David, you saved what was turning out to be a troublesome libxml upgrade ;-)
I didn't realise that Agavi.Config settings were cached - cool! The app was bootstrapped to production and upon clearing the cache it started working. Maybe it's worth adding a line to this effect on the WTF wiki page?
