Specifically, LVM. A couple of teams want the flexibility they offer
for pets in cloud environments, and GPT for +2TB disks. Some teams want
basic filesystem hardening concepts like not having all an instance's
system files in the same filesystem.
There's also the matter of OpenSCAP <https://www.open-scap.org/>for
HIIPA and STIG compliance. Some teams want (at least) one or the other.
For these and other reasons, we wish to build images ourselves.
