Hi Jim
You probably have done this, but this was good advice that I was given
Advice I was given when I started playing around with Chirp and a UV-5R so I
could gain some understanding
I have profiles for what I am doing with the handheld and simply load them and
use them
The advice was, after a factory reset, download the radio profile and save is
as your master file, this way you always have this as a default
Then play, change setting, add frequencies, load to the radio and test
I have a bunch of profiles, 2m/70cm/PRS/etc, all depends on what I am doing,
load them in and use it
I set a A/B default for power on, seems to work
By the way I think Chirp is great, well done to the team, easy to use

Be well, Travel Safe.

Is this a known problem other people have had, too? Or am I the lucky guy who
found it first? Seems like this sort of thing happens to me far too often
compared to people I know.

No idea of a workaround?
