Ciphermail uses OpenPGP while Symantec's PGP is a proprietary solution that does not necessarily follow the OpenPGP standard. It sounds like you may be running into an issue like that.
Take a look at this Symantec doc that clearly states that Symantec complies with its own PGP standard and that there might be incompatibility issues: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH149445.html -----Original Message----- From: Users [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of KRS via Users Sent: Tuesday, August 21, 2018 8:34 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [CipherMail User] Ciphermail doesn't decrypt emails from Symantec PGP Desktop. Hi. I've got issues with decrypting emails sent by Symantec PGP Desktop ( currently Symantec PGP Desktop 10.4.1. version) 1. I've installed Ciphers Virtual Machine version and configred one internal domain. 2. I've created one internal email account : [email protected] and generated PGP keypair on ciphermail. 3. Export public key to Symantec PGPsoftware form ciphermail When I send email from external domain using Symantec PGP i get an encrypted email to mail mailbox and content of the e-mail looks like this: -----BEGIN PGP MESSAGE----- Version: Encryption Desktop 10.4.1 (Build 759) Charset: utf-8 qANQR1DBwEwDxZu13Qxsm1kBB/4gcjkA7J8zIHG4B/voBkvZP+sWah+oabCkGFor RlfDkdGYNfgk6iXa+ESm3BrsuSvvsmvTQMNLDlckn4UGr7tjeV7CabHppFj9C6No waDYE13eyCYTj9Cu/kEhvd3rPYwd5blW+2L4MNN2oRx6gxBb/45Adt/UAvRM9Oqq H/hoyh7THIOnyun5Kr4yDtaCkDCFxU2441F9B/BSP+wsoRAJ22r3mHJTpQQmIgiN wl2OwV/5Y74qvVqJOyfuf4M8rsNy1G/CgZBbCHDZ/PX0sUK6WuasgVMpnGzjVUCv g1I+tflhFFN6R2uexHdDmBSRXW+Qln4UJfFjSo0F3JxYI41n0sDxAad6dFi0yXx4 rp45F3fcKGFE9L2rauQKj8WpieRv2EwI2nEMmj4sLES52oJ430E0wwbr4Ha0U3gH hE9CMsX1fmFwDu0PVjXBFCZMcSmv7pE4VG3g3i25wGs/XBzEj8gH8wyYSrWP9dy+ tsEg0fzGWr3i5X2IrddK0KqRicA432VQvoygHfxNdWVVjHVR8z5VSrCEkzAnMzUS BpemdL/hgWce1kX6vtDeIXt9uv0kv2VO+87wmI+DVoRLjtwcivn2Jram09wTQj44 jja2XlW1Y5pyFie930jCN+mmBQJhZnlvD8op/o9/Dqrgxy52HkhbnkmT9jiHranm 4QTl+eaZh1Zao4k0TT+os/9scXinNvwI1ve5i6ya+Un3ZEQ92Ed/Exa9AuGacBl2 6dTc3m2bHZgSZk0Zza2/jYbCh/m4whM5yig4/hUGg+aAQWmAF0mWs1GbNYEj/tM3 FfpwhaoWWNTAG4nVpMSLuJ7HUxfVzznosk7msVJl9kXKaV8soUFgbaqWC+tOSUvI uo9K+GV+IVAl0CR9LYgoTjWN+m3nJu4CP4WxzdECTvwV9yQWZVRSKg== =l+VS -----END PGP MESSAGE----- Ciphermail MPA log shows: 21 Aug 2018 11:36:54 | INFO incoming; MailID: 0f96d778-d593-4dad-9faf- 92c2eaa5e36b; Recipients: [[email protected]]; Originator: gpg.user1@yyyyy .com; Sender: [email protected]; Remote address: 66.37.25.73; Subject: EMAIL-SENT-FROM THUNDERBIRD-AS-PLAIN-TXT - USING-SYMANTEC-PGP; Message-ID: <[email protected]>; (mitm.application.djigzo.james.mailets.Log) [Spool Thread #0] 21 Aug 2018 11:36:54 | INFO Subject filter is disabled for the sender; MailID: 0f96d778-d593-4dad-9faf-92c2eaa5e36b; Recipients: [test1@xxxxx. pl] (mitm.application.djigzo.james.mailets.Default) [Spool Thread #0] 21 Aug 2018 11:36:54 | INFO To internal recipient(s); MailID: 0f96d778- d593-4dad-9faf-92c2eaa5e36b; Recipients: [[email protected]] (mitm.application.djigzo.james.mailets.Default) [Spool Thread #0] 21 Aug 2018 11:36:55 | INFO Message handling is finished.
