Hi all, Hobbes just put up a page for System admin course. You can find it here http://wiki.dgplug.org/index.php/System_Admin_Basics
== About the program == No amount of classes/lectures can make you a good system admin. What this module aims to do is give you an insight into the kind of things you'll need to know as a system admin. So this is going to be unlike most of the other modules here, you'll be covering a broad range of topics and will need to spend a LOT more time learning/experimenting. So if only have enough time to attend the online sessions. This module probably isn't for you. What you'll take away from this module mostly depends on how much time and effort you'll be putting into it. == Handled by == Kingsly John (Hobbes` on freenode/#dgplug) and will be handling the Basic System Admin module for the dgplug summer training program. Kingsly is a Linux/Opensource consultant based out of Bangalore and has over 10 years of experience working with Linux based systems of varying complexities. == Course Schedule == This program will start in the first/second week of July. And will go on for 2-3 weeks depending on participant interest. Anyone intested in this module is advised to attend the modules on vi(compulsory) and rpm packaging. == How it works == There will be two main modes of communication a mailing list and an IRC channel. There will be a 1-2 hour interactive session every day on IRC. The mailing list can be used at other times. == Requirements == You'll need a computer with an internet connection(preferably unmetered) and a Qemu VM with CentOS 5 installed. == How to join/enroll. == If you are interested in this module please leave your name, location and a 2 hour period(in IST) suitable to you. And how many months/years of experience you have with Linux. And subscribe to the mailing list.
