If I understand you correctly this is how Djigzo for BlackBerry works. A message sent with Djigzo for BlackBerry is digitally signed on the BlackBerry with a private key on the BlackBerry and then encrypted with the public certificate (i.e. the public key) of the server (the Djigzo server). The message is then sent to the configured Djigzo server's relay email address (this specific email address should be setup in Djigzo for BlackBerry). The Djigzo gateway receives the message, decrypts the message and then checks the signature of the decrypted message. If the signature if correct (i.e. PKI trusted), belongs to the sender and the sender is allowed to relay, the message will then be relayed by the Djigzo gateway to the intended user. With this procedure, the message is securely tunneled from the BlackBerry to the Djigzo gateay using an S/MIME tunnnel.
