The Debian installation instructions said to use the tgz files, and the packages I thought might be for only Ubuntu, so I followed the instructions using the tgz files. I am having some trouble, mainly because I couldn't cut and paste the commands I suspect, so maybe I should just go back and start over with the package files to see if I can straighten it out.
