Hello,
i don't use Exim but basically Ciphermail is a content filter which speaks SMTP at its edges. With Postfix you have some additionally GUI features like inspecting the mail-queue or do some of the Postfix configuration at GUI level, but its all up to you if you need it or not. So it is recommended to simply ask at some Exim list how to use content filter with SMTP input/output.
