It turned out this was caused by some loop in the certificate chain which was not handled correctly by the library that handles the import of certificates (BouncyCastle).
The workaround was to import the p12 (pfx) into Windows and then export the key to a new file. This resulted in a pfx file without the incorrect chain. I have filed a bug report for BC: http://www.bouncycastle.org/jira/browse/BJB-44?filter=-4 Kind regards, Martijn Brinkers On 03/15/2015 03:41 PM, Markus Zimmermann wrote: > Hello, > > > I bought an E-Mail-Certificate from Comodo, but I am unable to import the key > into ciphermail. > > > I backed up the Certificate in Firefox into a *.p12-File.
