Robert:

on my 901 (also running an ancient Fedora, F20) lsmod | grep eee
returns not only eeepc_laptop, but also sparse_keymap.

I dunno what sparse_keymap does, but it prolly has something to do
with mapping keys :). does your 900 show that?
