When I put a Fedora .iso on a flash drive it leaves read-only files that I always have difficulty clearing if I want to reuse the flash drive for something other than media-writer.

What should I do to clear the drive?

I'm not sure what you mean by "read-only files". But you should be able to use any partition editor to delete whatever partitions are there and create new ones. gparted, gnome-disks, fdisk, etc.
