Hummm.....  Another "interesting" thing.

I had not touched either the "Minimize" or "Close" check boxes in that frame.  
When I looked at them
now they are both "unchecked".  Yet when I reinitialized my user by doing the 
"rm" on the configs
the "Close" button is checked.

I unchecked the "Close" button and verified that is all that is needed to get 
the desired behavior.
