If you know two languages, try using your translator to go from one to the other and see if it looks right. If you don't, find a friend who knows a second language and get their opinion. If the translator only does a word-for-word translation, it's going to look very wrong, such as a literal translation from German to French. I don't know if there are any programs out there that correct the syntax, but that's what you need.
