I have been trying to install the base Fedora (which I have never actually
installed, relying more on my custom install of a openbox-WM-based system) on
an old laptop that used to run Debian. I would like to keep the existing /home
partition.
I am not really that invested on the current paritioning, but I am ok if I get
to keep it.
So, here is the current paritioning:
/ 26 GiB /boot 100 MiB (this is an efi partition) swap 17 GiB /home
(encrypted, absolutely want to keep)
My partitions are all ext4s and I prefer that.
However, my problem is that when I select the Mount partitons and (I guess do this
manually) with formatting for all but the /home partition, I get no option on how to set
the type of partition, and in the next step, I get "Unable to set efi
partition" with no seeming recourse on how to wipe/reset it and proceed.
I guess this new anaconda installer is a bit too much for me:-(
But anyway, how do I proceed? Any ideas.
Sorry for such a basic question, and thanks in advance for all your help.
Best wishes,
Ranjan
I guess, you are using Anaconda installation. In Anaconda, there is an option
„Installation target“ or alike. There you select first the disk, a further down
there are the options „Default“, „custom“ and „Advanced custom“. Select
advanced custom and then „Done“. A new window opens. Delete the all portions
besides „home“, of course. You have to click in a partition to set the focus
and then select the delete icon.
Thanks, Peter.
I am using whatever the Base prompts as the installer, I assumed that this was
the new anaconda. (And it appears to be.)
There are no "Default" "custom" or "Advanced custom" options for me. Only Share
disk with other OS, Use entire disk, or Mount point assignment. (The latter is some version of custom, I
would guess, but in the next page, I am not allowed to do things in the earlier way).
Click the menu in the top-right corner for the advanced disk tool.
