And then it is frozen, and has to be killed. I updated everything. Same
problem. Uninstalled and re-installed. No luck. I created a new profile
and even a new system account and tried there: Same problem.
Any ideas?
Not really, but just ran it from the command line to compare the output and it
seems to show that your output does not clearly tell what is wrong, since I get
similar stuff when it *does* work...
google-chrome-stable

Again, this is a sample of output on the command line from running it without
any problem.
One (crazy?) idea I had was to try running chrome with no internet
connection. It might be getting hung up on a connection.
Also, try using strace and see what's at the end of the output.
Something like "strace -o /tmp/mychrome.log google-chrome-stable."
