Hi,
I am getting two message displayed on the screen at boot time about
systemd-vconsole start failures. One failure message is a failure to
start systemd-vconsole-setup.service, and I can find the failure message
for that in boot.log and dmesg, but the second failure message is not
logged in either of those (I think the message was relevant to
systemd-vconsole-d.up.service, but when I checked systemctl it told me
the service didn't exist), but I'll ignore the second message for the
time being.
A sudo systemctl status systemd-vconsole-setup.service is giving me the
following two messages:
Feb 26 06:59:36 fedora systemd-vconsole-setup[997]: loadkeys: Unable to
open file: au: No such file or directory
Feb 26 06:59:36 fedora systemd-vconsole-setup[990]: /usr/bin/loadkeys
failed with exit status 1.
which a google search is telling is caused by an incorrect or missing
keymap file in /etc/vconsole.conf. There is a line in that file of
KEYMAP="au", which I am assuming has been put in there by virtue of I've
used KDE System Settings->Keyboard to set the keyboard to Logitech with
a Layout of "English(Australia)" which that entry is layout "au". The
keyboard seems to be handled correctly in KDE, so why has that process,
or KVM (I'm assuming vconsole is KVM, if that is correct, why does the
loadkeys error appear to not impact the keyboard usage under KVM),
specified a config entry that is incorrect or doesn't exist? I could
remove the KEYMAP line, but if I do what is that impacting, or should I
just raise a bug, and if I need to raise a bug under what component
should it be raised?
regards,
