The other question I have is, what is systemd-vconsole-
setup.service actually used for given that with it not activating
there doesn't appear to be any impact to KVM, or is that service
not relevant to KVM?
The vconsole is the text console that you can switch to.
Is that a console that can be switched to during boot?
I think that's the same one.
If so, why would the service not starting change from loadkeys saying
it wasn't going to set the keymap or load fonts because the vconsole
was in use, to loadkeys erroring because it could not find the "au"
keymap even though KDE System Settings can find the "au" layout, as
the "au" layout is what I have selected in F43 for the logitech
keyboard driver?
I expect the "in use" error was a bug of some sort.
There is no "au" keymap. "keymap" and "layout" are different things.
I don't know what the "logitech keyboard driver" is, but the au
keyboard layout is the same as the default us layout, so failing to
load isn't going to make any difference anyway.
I might have my terminology wrong, in
system-settings->Keyboard->Keyboard I've selected "Model: Logitech |
Logitech", and I was assuming that was loading a Logitech keyboard
driver. Unfortunately for me Fedora doesn't have a reference to the
exact Logitech keyboard I have, being the Logitech G910.
/usr/lib/kbd/keymaps/ if you want to see the available list.
I've fixed the failure issue by setting the keymap to "us". The question
I have with this is, I installed F43 in KVM, and because my locale is
Australia that also set the keymap to "au", hence it gets the failure as
well, hence the question I have is why is the vconsole keymap set to
"au" when that keymap doesn't exist?
