This is something I have noticed for a while, some of 'my' PDF files
(files I have downloaded from either clients or online, which are now
MINE! ;-) ) seem to load when I open/read them.
What happens is that the page open white & empty and after a few
seconds loads its content. It seems like it struggling to get it
from....not sure where. It actually loads even if I am not connected
to the Internet.
I am using Document Reader to read my PDF files.
Any idea why this is happening and if there is a way to make that
page appears instantly when browsing the PDF? Web searches didn't
give anything on that. I can share one of 'my' PDF is someone needs
it to verify / highlight the issue.
Maybe it's javascript. Click the 3 dots in the top-right and open the
Document Properties. At the bottom in the Format box, there's a field
labelled "Contains Javascript". Does it say yes or no?
No JS, also not optimized. Producer: macOS Version 14.6.1 (Build 23G93)
Quartz PDFContext for this particular one.
And to answer Tim question the file does open when connected and seems
to open those pages faster, even though I do still experience the white
page event. That file is 5MB for 11 pages. Not sure how big this is.
But the occurrence is not limited to this document. I do have it
happening 'regularly' (never really did any stats, maybe less than more).
Thank you.
