To Clarify. winehq didn't have Fedora 44 repo at time, but now
does.
The wine under Fedora 44 did work but is at 11.0
The wine under WineHQ is 11.8 at momment.
I have program that doesn't work with 11.0 thru 11.4 if I recall.
They fixed an issue in 11.5 If I recall.

Just did a quick test on another of my machines.
Changed the winehq.repo to point to 44

name=WineHQ packages
type=rpm-md
baseurl=https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/fedora/44
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/winehq.key
enabled=1

Running upgrade command gives this.

dnf system-upgrade download --releasever=44

Problem 1: installed package
kdelibs-webkit-6:4.14.38-49.fc43.x86_64 requires kdelibs(x86-64) =
6:4.14.38-49.fc43, but none of the providers can be installed
  - kdelibs-6:4.14.38-49.fc43.x86_64 does not belong to a
distupgrade repository
  - problem with installed package
 Problem 2: package icedtea-web-1.8.8-11.fc44.x86_64 from fedora
requires java-21-openjdk, but none of the providers can be installed
  - problem with installed package
  - java-21-openjdk-1:21.0.11.0.10-1.fc43.x86_64 does not belong to
a distupgrade repository
  - icedtea-web-1.8.8-10.fc43.x86_64 does not belong to a
distupgrade repository

Recall that I removed these packages, and then the install went
thru,

So the codec issues is fixed with the winehq repo for 44, but these
minor issues might require action?
