You could "dd" it to the stick, some bootable things work better via
another method.

Alternatively, try media writer again, and wait longer than you think
you need to when it finishes before unplugging or rebooting.

Sometimes that's the easiest solution.  Though, again, you can strike a
problem that the ISO image's bootblock is not compatible with your
system.  Which would be ironic, since the ISO is designed *for* your
system.
