Following a recent update to libvirt (in the host), attempting to run a

This is a fc44 machine that was properly shut down 2 days ago.
libvirt was updated yesterday as part of fc42 -> fc44 upgrade.
Looking at the machine 'Overview' I see
Chipset: Q35
The XML includes
<type arch="x86_64" machine="pc-q35-4.2">hvm</type>
What is a safe adjustment, and how (I usually use 'virsh edit')?
I ended up editing the xml file directly.
Is plain "pc-q35" acceptable?
Just "q35".
Run "qemu-system-x86_64 -machine help" to get the list of valid options.
