Yes, while it's handy to install convenient-to-use editors, it's good to
be able to do at least the basic things that you might need to do with
the already-installed-by-default editors, so you have a fighting chance
at bringing a non-working PC back to life when you're taken by surprise.

There are a few interesting stories floating around the net, like how
one admin was faced with the after-effects of someone's wildcard
deletion mistake, in the wrong directory tree, but because there was an
editor still left running on a terminal somewhere, they were able to
write enough new commands to dig themselves out of the hole.
