My thanks to Tony and Lex Confession: a few days ago I was working on the Save Actions plugin confg location and I believe that I stumbled onto an option the would combine all of the symbols of open files. Shame on me for not saving where it was located.
Anyway, Lex is probably correct, and Tony pointed me to the section that I already and enabled. Thanks to you both.
