I could > then start taking a look at the markdown preview plugin code to see if I > could improve it. > Well there are only two things on the markdown since the 2.0 version release, neither making markdown capabilities (a build check and a support for gtk 4.1 as well as the already existing gtk 4.0, nothing on markdown) so that will have no affect of trying actual markdown providing code, or you could back the three off if you really wanted to.
