I understand that, but can there be very many ISVs who would not want support and therefore the enterprise license? And more to the point, can there be many end-users of ISV's products who would not want support? GPL without LGPL might limit the sheer number of ISVs, but it only improves the commercial basis for Ingres, and it has no effect on any other class of user.
I also understand how dropping the CA-TOSL in favour of the GPL would mean some early-adopters would have to revise their business plan if they want to use Ingres 2006, but the list price for an enterprise license is just the list price...
