Hi. I’m trying out Contrail for the first time. I have a setup with one
controller node and two hypervisor nodes (all Ubuntu 14.04), and I
installed the Contrail components on them using the scripts at
https://github.com/tonyliu0592/opencontrail-install. I created a virtual
network in the web UI, but it doesn’t seem to have created any routing
instances. Consequently, when I run VMs with their tap interfaces in
vRouter and try to ping between them (with static IP address set to ones
from the virtual network's range), outgoing packets only get as far as the
tap interface.
There’s a lot I'm still getting my head around, but my two main questions
at this point are:
1) When and how does a routing instance get created?
2) What is the relationship between a virtual network and a VRF (i.e. how
do I know what to pass to `vif --add`?
My controller has peers listed ("vRouters: 2 Established in Sync, 2
subscribed for configuration"), but each of my vRouters shows in the UI
with 0 interfaces and 0 instances. The virtual network I created also shows
0 interfaces and 0 instances.
Curiously, the UI shows 0 database nodes (but config node is there) and
"Config DB" under "Settings" shows nothing but an error. I don't think this
is the problem, though, as that's also the case on a similar but working
installation.
I can provide extra information, of course, if it will help.
