I am not sure if I understand the question fully. The route for the gateway 
address is populated in the data path (for each vrf) by the vrouter user space 
agent and its nexthop points at the pkt0 interface.  When the VM pings its 
default gateway, these packets are sent/received on the pkt0 interface and 
handled by the agent.
