Ok I will follow the instructions for installing cupsclient. BUT I did follow the instructions on the OpenCSW website for 'Getting started with CUPS' But all I ended up doing was installing the long list of packages you mentioned at the top of your email So it didn't really help me get started ... or did it ? Did I need these packages at all for CUPS installation ?
Also, can you answer my query please about the class action scripts Regards Keith Fishwick Finance, Infrastructure and Transformation Directorate Integrated Business Centre ICT Hull City Council Maritime Buildings Alfred Gelder Street, HULL, HU1 2AA Tel: +44 1482 614519 Email: mailto:keith.fishw...@hullcc.gov.uk From: users [mailto:users-bounces+keith.fishwick=hullcc.gov...@lists.opencsw.org] On Behalf Of Carsten Grzemba Sent: 12 April 2016 10:14 To: Questions and discussions Subject: RE: CUPS installation issue on Solaris 10 branded zone this downloads imagemagick coreutils vim ggrep gsed, not cups! if you can't install cupsclient directly, run: pkgutil \ --stream \ --target=sparc:5.10 \ --output cups.pkg \ --yes \ --download \ cupsclient On 12.04.16 10:40, Fishwick Keith <keith.fishw...@hullcc.gov.uk<mailto:keith.fishw...@hullcc.gov.uk>> wrote: Hi, I am now very confused ! These are the steps I followed the other day :- 1) On SERVER_A pkgadd -d http://get.opencsw.org/now 2) pkgutil -U -u pkgutil 3) I then wanted to use pkgutil to build a package stream. So I ran :- pkgutil \ --stream \ --target=sparc:5.10 \ --output cups.pkg \ --yes \ --download \ imagemagick coreutils vim ggrep gsed This gave me a file called cups.pkg Plus a list of pkgadd's which I placed into a new shell script called cups_order 4) Copied cups.pkg file and cups_order script to SERVER_B where I want to install CUPS 5) On SERVER_B ./cups_order This ran all the pkgadd's and finished successfully But obviously the following are missing from /opt/csw/bin :- /usr/csw/bin/lp /usr/csw/bin/lpstat /usr/csw/bin/cancel Which is why I sent my original email to you Now your response says :- Haven't you installed the pkgutil tool? You can just execute "pkgutil -i cupsclient". This will install cupsclient with all it's dependencies. Well yes I think I did install the pkgutil tool ... BUT ON SERVER_A (as SERVER_B has no internet access) I want the cupsclient package installing on SERVER_B Please can you tell me how I get cupsclient installed on SERVER_B Also, are the class action scripts new ? (I didn't see them mentioned on the webpage the yesterday) And what do I need to do with them to get them installed etc ?
