Dear OpenNebula users, The OpenNebula project is proud to announce the availability [1] of the beta release of OpenNebula 3.8 Twin Jet.
This release brings new features in many areas and stabilizes previous versions (for more details, please refer to the Release Notes [2] or the feature set page [3]): * better integration with VMware (native support for VMFS) * enhanced KVM support (cgroups and SPICE) * simplified network deployment with the new virtual router appliance * more functional EC2 interface (EBS and keypairs) * improvements in OCCI interface (attach/detach functionality) * new onedb fsck command that checks the DB consistency, and fixes any problems found * new contextualization packages An important effort has been made to distribute the software with the same packaging formats as those used by the main Linux distributions. We hope that this will make even more easier to get and set OpenNebula up and running. Please be sure to check the upgrade guide [4], and take a look to the proper upgrade path from 3.6 packages. Thanks to the community members and users who have contributed to this software release by being active with the discussions, answering user questions, or providing patches for bugfixes, features and documentation. As usual OpenNebula releases are named after a Nebula. The Twin Jet (also known as Minkowski’s Butterfly, or the Wings of a Butterfly Nebula) is a planetary nebula [5], located about 2,100 light-years away from Earth in the direction of the constellation Ophiuchus. We are looking forward to your feedback, crucial in order to improve OpenNebula and tailor it for its users needs.
