Hello François, In the subnet 172.28.112.0/23
Your network address is 172.28.112.0 and your broadcast address is 172.28.113.255; your usable range is 172.28.112.1-172.28.113.254. 172.28.112.255 and 172.28.113.0 are within the usable range. I think your confusion is you IP range crosses a /24 boundary, however, these ip's ARE usable. By excluding them you ate just reducing your usable pool by 2. There are 512 IPs in a /23, of those 510 are usable. By excluding .112.255 and .113.0 your usable pool is 508.
