It is always possible to run some kind of virtualization technology, no matter what motherboard you have. I have no personal experience with the model of desktop board that you mention but I am familiar with Intel's server products from the same 2007-2008 era and I can say that those boards, which used the same socket, Support hardware-assisted virtualization.

For the whole PC to support virtualization, apart from the CPU supporting virtualization, the motherboard needs to support virtualization as well. It is easy to upgrade the CPU, but difficult to upgrade the motherboard. If the motherboard already supports virtualization, then I don't need to upgrade the motherboard. Does anyone know how to check whether the motherboard support virtualization or not? in the Ubuntu terminal, run the below commands and get the corresponding return: 1) dmidecode | grep -A4 'Base Board Information' Base Board Information Manufacturer: Intel Corporation Product Name: D945GCCR Version: AAD78647-301 Serial Number: BTCR71100WJ1 2) dmidecode -t 4 | grep Socket Socket Designation: LGA 775 The above return is the information of the motherboard of my desktop PC. don't know whether or not it support virtualization. Thanks for your help ! Kind regards, Q.S.
