You can use a Hook on user creation that moves the user to the desired
group after querying LDAP.

For the next OpenNebula version there is a feature that selects the
group from Active Directory:

http://dev.opennebula.org/issues/3159

I suppose this can be modified to use OpenLDAP groups.
