Hi Brian, My understanding is that yes, masters and node can be 1 minor version apart and still work but it’s not recommended to run that way for long period.
The only thing I’ve seen in official docs are this “Unless noted otherwise, node and masters within a major version are forward and backward compatible across one minor version, so upgrading your cluster should go smoothly. However, you should not run mismatched versions longer than necessary to upgrade the entire cluster.” - from https://docs.openshift.org/3.7/upgrading/index.html The manual upgrade method is documented very well at https://docs.openshift.org/3.7/upgrading/manual_upgrades.html#install-config-upgrading-manual-upgrades Thanks, Todd 2. Is possible to upgrade Openshift Origin partially? It?s not possible to just run the upgrade yaml, cause it will take A LOT of time. I?d like to know if it?s possible that I can do the upgrade like this: 1. Update control plane to 3.7 at night, after the upgrade, let it run as is 2. Update nodes to 3.7 through 2 or more nights, to reduce cluster down time 3. Repeat step1&2 to upgrade to 3.9 I didn?t find any mention on the official docs that clears if master and node of different version (eg. Masters of v3.7 and nodes of v3.6) could co-exist, and also for nodes of different versions(eg. Nodes of v3.6 and Nodes of v3.7) Thanks. ######################################################################## The information contained in this message, and any attachments thereto, is intended solely for the use of the addressee(s) and may contain confidential and/or privileged material.
