We are both saying the same thing. Virtualizing idle resources is easy. Virtualizing resources that do not work in real time like sending emails or serving web pages is also easy you can load the box to the full with them.
i guess we are indeed saying this. but i think i am also saying
something more: you can even virtualize real-time stuff if you have
enough total CPU available, because usually the CPU distribution
through the VM scheduler will be good enough even for VoIP real-time
media processing.
of course, if you are spending one thread per media stream, then the
two level scheduling (VM + guest OS) will not work very well. how does
sylkserver/pjmedia do it? one thread (master port/clock generator)
per conference, one in total, or one per call?
