On your config you are doing an xlog *after* calling call_control, which means
$retcode will be overwritten with whatever xlog returns. Remove that line, or
save the retcode:
call_control();
$var(cc_retcode) = $retcode;
xlog(...);
switch($var(cc_retcode) ...
