And what about the engage_rtp_proxy and rtpproxy_engage. They both say 
Deprecated :)
Shouldn't only one be deprecated?

It is also unclear to me what method is preferred, Should I use engage or the 
offer answer functions?

Indeed, there was a typo in the configuration file. The
unforce_rtp_proxy() function has been replaced by rtpproxy_unforce() 
function[1].
