Well, you do not want to drop the reply, but to replace it guess, right ?
If so, you can use a failure route and do:
failure_route[bla] {
if (t_check_status([3][0-9][0-9]) {
t_reply("404","Not found");
exit;
}
}
This will replace all 3xx you get with a 404 Not Found reply.
