Hi Jeff,
It is more or less the same. user_preferences gives a bit of a more
flexibility as you have the additional type field , while the db_alias
does not have (there is only one mapping from alias to user) - but you
can use different aliasing tables.
Also, the user_preferences support non-SIP keys (to look for a new
value) - like a user ID -, while db_aliases use a SIP uri key.
