Hi Callum, Thanks again and understood.
One last question before I crack on with this, what do you do in terms of provisioning client devices for TLS? Do you deploy with a cert? Just looking at best practices from people who are a little more experienced in it! Many thanks Jon Get Outlook for iOS<https://aka.ms/o0ukef> ________________________________ From: Users <users-boun...@lists.opensips.org> on behalf of Callum Guy <callum....@x-on.co.uk> Sent: Tuesday, September 12, 2017 2:28:03 PM To: OpenSIPS users mailling list Subject: Re: [OpenSIPS-Users] opensips 2.2.5 and TLS configuration Hi Jon, Happy to help but please be careful that my examples aren't contributing to your difficulties. You are correct that a working setup on one handset should provide a system which can be used by other handsets however it is important to understand that not all devices support the same protocol levels and ciphers. The cipher list you are currently working with (EECDH+AESGCM,EDH+AESGCM,AES256+EECDH,AES256+EDH) is restricting the negotiation process to some very modern ciphers meaning that you will most likely encounter a lack of support from the various handsets you are testing with. The combination of using these strong ciphers over a weak protocol (SSLv23) will result in a vastly shortened list of functional setups! You will probably have better luck with a wide list of ciphers such as "HIGH" - just swap the list out or tag it on the end. Note that where possible you really shouldn't be using anything less than TLS1.1 if you really care about protecting these calls from decryption. As an aside you can review some of the ciphers your system is able to use by running the following commands (note that this is your system, the client device will have its own list): openssl ciphers -v 'EECDH+AESGCM,EDH+AESGCM,AES256+EECDH,AES256+EDH' openssl ciphers -v 'HIGH' Hope that helps, stay secure! I have also found that there is a need on opensips 2.2.x to re-specify the global params under your server/client domains - i have certainly had issues with that in the past. try issuing all of your global directives a second time, prefixed with your server domain. Personally I specify the ciphers list and aim for a higher standard of security - here's an excerpt: modparam("tls_mgm", "dh_params", "/etc/pki/tls/certs/dhparam.pem") modparam("tls_mgm", "ec_curve", "secp384r1") modparam("tls_mgm", "ciphers_list", "EECDH+AESGCM,EDH+AESGCM,AES256+EECDH,AES256+EDH") modparam("tls_mgm", "verify_cert", "1") # Switch off during initial testing to rule this out modparam("tls_mgm", "require_cert", "1") # Switch off during initial testing to rule this out modparam("tls_mgm", "tls_method", "TLSv1_2") modparam("tls_mgm", "certificate", "/etc/pki/tls/certs/dom.sip.crt") modparam("tls_mgm", "private_key", "/etc/pki/tls/private/dom.sip.key") modparam("tls_mgm", "ca_list", "/etc/pki/tls/certs/ca-bundle.crt") modparam("tls_mgm", "ca_dir", "/etc/pki/tls/certs/") Note the inclusion of ca_dir and ciphers_list.
