Let me guess, you are using not the latest version of 2.4 branch DB provisioning of TLS configuration was incomplete. CA list took only first certificate from all the list. Certificate was loaded only first, not the chain. And yes, ca_list DB field was too small.
But now, with 7fd38342bba96f732881dea769b9df9ce5ac3e03 and this 37a0d113296db7f009c3469f7f78940130b2f367 everything should be fine.
