You can try RPM package, too, since you are using Red Hat based Linux. However, 
I am not sure whether you can use a higher version of gcc because of your old 
OS version.
You may try to download RPMs here: 
http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=gcc-gfortran, or google it 
for a better speed of downloading
