Actually, it is the maximum energy, since denergy (in the piece of code reported here above by Manoj) should be negative. This is important, since energy0 is also needed to perform the basis set reduction (through ewind and epsproj parameters, see Doc/INPUT_PWCOND). This basis set reduction will result in an accuracy equal to or higher than that specified by these parameters only for energies <= energy0 (when ewind and epsproj are in a reasonable range).
