I wasn't sure if you'd mind this being sent to all list members so I'm
going to send this over to you. Something you might want to add into

Everything like this should go to the list, so I'm CC-ing the list.
Regarding the wiki, would you lile me to make you a wiki account so you
can add the info?
I was able to successfully install your distro on an MK808
https://www.miniand.com/products/MK808%20Android%20Mini%20PC running the
3.0.36 kernel provided here
https://github.com/omegamoon/rockchip-rk30xx-mk808
In order to do this I just flashed the kernel onto the MK808 following
the instructions provided here
https://www.miniand.com/wiki/Picuntu+Linux+Step+by+Step+Installation
I just modified the instructions for installing the new kernel and then
I used your most current root fs from your FTP. So far it's running
great. I hope development is still moving forward as I love using these
little mini computers.
The development/maintenance is currently progressing at quite a pace, in
part due to recent hardware upgrades. I am in the final stages of
getting all of the EL6 packages up to date (including all the versions
of most of the EL6 packages, over 10K rpms in total. The main bulk of
the build is in place, and I am just catching up with the few stragglers
where the build failed, either due to regressions upstream or due to
various self-test bugs that cause the build to fail in mock. This time I
am also making sure that all the packages that required modifying are
listed, with clean patches of the changes available, and with a brief
note regarding what exactly needed changing.
The wiki page is here:
http://wiki.redsleeve.org/index.php/ModifiedPackages
Once this is finished (a few days unless some major real life event
causes a delay), I will announce a full release. This means signed
packages, and an proper release rpm file with repo files with mirror lists.
I placed a post in the miniand forum about this
as well since there seems to be a growing fan base for these little
computers and Linux.
https://www.miniand.com/forums/forums/development--7/topics/redsleeve-linux-an-attempt-at-enterprise-arm-linux
Splendid, thank you for raising awareness of RedSleeve.
Thank you also for pointing out that the rootfs linked on the main page
isn't the most up to date one everyone should be using. I have changed
the link to point to the most up to date rootfs.
So far the only issue I have is with a misreading of the load average.
I've monitored htop and top, but so far have found nothing that would
cause my load average to steadily report being above 2. I had this
issue with picuntu so I think it's probably on the kernel side of
things. Anyways thanks again for the distro and hopefully there's more
to come.
There is indeed more to come. As soon as the EL6 version is fully
released in a few days' time, I will start working on an EL7 port, since
upstream EL7 beta is out.
There is also a wiki article coming up from me about getting RedSleeve
to work on a QNAP TS-421 NAS (2GHz Marvell Kirkwood ARMv5, 1GB of RAM,
4x3.5" SATA, USB2, USB3, dual gigabit ethernet, etc). The reason I got
this machine is because the RedSleeve web server was starting to need an
upgrade, mainly due to lack of disk space (it only had a 40GB SSD). But
since it is a DreamPlug a disk has to be external which is a bit untidy.
The mentioned QNAP is now fully configured and running RedSleeve, and
will be deployed to replace the current server as soon as the release is
ready.
I also just got my hands on some other quite awesome hardware (ATX ARM
board from Cornfed Servers, 4-core A9, 4GB of RAM, SATA, USB), so more
info on that will also be coming in due time.
I'll post more updates on all of this as and when I have had a chance to
write them up, unless there are demands from the list members to know
more about it all now rather than later.
Gordan
