The version of clamav for RSEL (I think in epel for rsel) is on .97 with the version for Centos 6 on .98. .96 is already at EOL; of course my current 4 yearold mailserver is on .95 and clamav is still working.

So it comes down to how to keep some valuable components current where current matters. Things that I am using that are outward facing are:

bind
postfix
dovecot (mysql is used, but it is somewhat protected)
spamassasin
clamav
amavis-new

After I complete a long list of upgrades, I can start learning how to contribute by doing some maintainer work. That will be all new to me. Perhaps I will learn a bit of it with the Centos7-arm port; maybe not.

I think my move to Redsleeve is worth the effort and I am rather happy with it. But look forward to Centos and the larger community of support.

Thank you to all that have and are working on RSEL.

P.S.

My next and final RSEL system will be replacing my internal Samba server. Configuring it SHOULD be much simpler, as I SHOULD be able to copy all the needed Samba, DNSmasq, and a few other service files from the ClearOS server I am currently running. Though right now it only supports XP clients with roaming profiles, and the new one SHOULD be ready to support Win7 clients. But with the SP4 package out there, we should be able to continue to run XP for at least 5 more years...
