I just tested this for you. it should work with these commands:

# yumdownloader --disablerepo el6-update gnome-panel control-center
# rpm -Uvh --force --nodeps gnome-panel-2.30.2-15.el6.armv5tel.rpm
control-center-2.28.1-39.el6.armv5tel.rpm
# yum update

The issue is that (at least) gnome-panel and control-center from
el6-updates are (wrongly) linked to an older version of
evolution-data-server. In updates-testing I "fixed" this by rebuilding
these packages with the latest evolution-data-server package, but the
version number is identical, so rpm/yum doesn't understand this.

of course this situation is not ideal and should be better resolved
if/when updates testing becomes mainstream. I can see two courses of action:

1. bump the version number. We'll be a bit out-of-sync with upstream
numbering, but yum/rpm will understand.
2. merge as-is, keep in line with upstream and have an howto fix
page/mail somewhere.

Are there any other methods? anybody got an opinion on which one to choose?

@Gordan, how are we going forward with merging updates and
updates-testing ?
