Don't know. As I said before, the entire epel repository was contributed
and taken in good faith.

They mess up a lot.

I had to do a "exclude=perl-IO-Compress-Base" in order to install
"perl-libwww-perl" from base repo.

IMO you should avoid having epel (even on x86) enabled by default.
I only explicitly enable it when I need to install a package from
it. Same with all other external repositories. There is a lot of
stuff in those that regularly ends up breaking other thing.
