I try to have a good kernel-devel package for redsleeve. (this is not copied 
from the raspi binary stuff, but comes from source)
If your own compiling doesn't work, you should be able to compile single 
modules with this package.
If not, please let me know, so we can improve the package.

For something related, I just remembered that I actually never got the raspi 
image *with kernel* working on KVM/qemu on linux. To get that working I needed 
to download a special kernel somewhere to boot from.
