In the US, at least, the various MPEG formats have various patents on
them. It can't easily be published by Red Hat without paying a license
fee, and it can't be published under a free software of open source
license. So, unless you're in Europe and software patents aren't
valid, I wouldn't recommend going to the "Penguine Liberation Front"
website and findng the SRPM's there and working with those. Nor would
I suggest obtaing other software there, such as the old "xv" program,
"ivtv" firmware, the DVD decryption toolkit "libdvdcss", the "clit"
software for turning Microsoft Reader format documents into legible
formats, gaming platform emulators such as "hatari", or the old and
beloved "vtwm" window manager which might emulate Microsoft look and
feel. (Shock and horror!!!! We can't have that!)

I would never suggest, for example, that these tools were bundled for
Mandrive and take a bit of knowledge of RPM setups to port to
Scientific Linux, especially pre-defining the "%mkdvver" and "%mdkver"
settings in your .rpmmacros file, or to define the settikngs for
"%mkrel" from http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Policies/Release_Tag.
