Sender displays as 'General'

Everything is working with the latest CVS build, except that when I  
send emails my identity is not shown ton the receiver. Under 'sender'  
they
only get 'General'. I set up a new identity and when I compose a  
message it shows above the message but doesn't seem to go through.

Any idea what this could be?
