First, that comment was of course supposed to go under the previous
point about adding an address.
Second, this was solved by adding a mapping to the LDAP fieldmap in
main.inc.php
'region' => 'st'
The UI now shows a text box, the value is passed in the "st"-field of
the resulting array.
However, adding/updating an address still fails.
